Website Redesign
Old vs New
Milton Park is a business park located just outside of Didcot and its run by a company called MEPC. After establishing a successful brand refresh with MEPC, they challenged me to be part of redesigning their website. Once they had agreed to a new brand design style with various ideas put forward, I had to follow up on bringing their new brand to life through the website. They wanted to use the varied new brand colours in subtle ways across the site and mainly focus the site with impactful new imagery of the park.
Initial Concept Work
I presented a number of options to the client but here are my 2 favourite concept designs. On the left we have a modular and segmented approach to the design of the site while encompassing the photography heavy brief the design required. Where as on the right we have a more impactful approach to the use of photography with a full page span of a photographic slider. Overall the concept on the right became more favoured and I began refining this further with layout designs.
Wireframing and Restructuring
After working on concept designs I had the opportunity to restructure each page on the current site. I used illustrator to create wireframes as this was before Adobe Xd became available to use. Each page needed to be visually impactful with photography, so I had to allow for this when designing each layout on the pages. The copy stayed similar in size to the original site, so I knew what I had to work with on each page. Here were a few layout examples from my wireframing process.
Final Outcome
The overall website harnesses the diverse range of colour created from the new brand guidelines as the whole site is segmented by colour. Having an impactful full span page photographic header banner throughout the site brings a fresh and flexible new style to the site as it not only showcases the park on the big screen but delivers on the clients needs for a photographic heavy site.
eBook
Interactive Welcome Pack
As a downloadable asset from the main website, I was told to design and build an interactive welcome pack using InDesign. The PDF needed to be optimised for use on the web and for it to be downloadable to use offline. The document needed to be in-keeping with the sites design, so each page was designed to reflect that using angular imagery integral to the layout. Sections of the document were also colour coded for ease of use. The document provided numerous CTA that took you to the corresponding areas on the new website.
Print Work
Sketching, Concepts and Final Design
After the completion of the website, I began designing brochures for new property developments and current property lettings on the park. Working with the new brand, I began sketching new layouts for spreads before going into concept designs. The client needed to see multiple iterations for each brochure with a similar consistent layout. I also had to recreate the floor plans via illustrator and redesign the current park maps.
Various Cover Designs
Final Outcome
The brochure features an angular approach to tie into the themed texture used. Using geometric shapes to style call out boxes and stats, I ended up with a dynamic design that compliments the new property development its showcasing. I used the geometric shapes to bring out imagery in the layout design to give spreads more impact across pages.
