Web Design
One of my largest projects to date was to design a site showcasing Hitachi’s latest analytical products on offer. The goal for this website was to get the right users to filter down information on the right analytical product for their industry use case. The products were visually categorised using iconography, graphical image themes and colour tones. The user journey was designed to aid in the product selection via the use of a mega menu system and a series of filters across the site. The overall project has been my biggest success to date.
Concept Designs
These concepts experimented with the look and feel of textures and colours that had direct connotations towards the primary use cases of the products. I was trying to convey the involvement of different materials and in these examples there are hints towards the analysis of oil and other hard materials like rock with the low-poly effect.
Initial Wireframing
The methodology behind creating this site went from initial sketching, to concept designs, to interactive wireframes in Adobe Xd before a final sign-off on the final main design themes throughout the site. For the wireframing process, I created user journeys by linking these pages together via the site map that I worked with, this acted as a functioning prototype to demonstrate to the client.
Final Outcome
After developing on the above concepts and layout design, the client decided to go for a metallic texture with a rugged tyre track pattern theme throughout the site to symbolise durability. The general colour scheme was kept in close relation to the main primary colours for Hitachi which were green and red. Once the final layout and designs for each page got confirmed, I could then move onto the mobile designs.
Below show all the mobile responsive designs that were completed once main desktop designs were approved. I faced challenges with regards to the amount of content to scroll through, however I added in various drop downs and collapsed content features such as accordions where necessary.
Campaign Visual Concepts
Once the site was up and running, Hitachi required some concepts for collateral to be used to symbolise the key selling points of the products. I created 2 concept ideas with the messaging focused on the benefits for customers upgrading. Here were a few that I enjoyed creating to present to the client.
This masculine concept shows the contrast between a older yet good product and an exceptional (new/upgraded) product all in Hitachi colouring.
The car creative shows a modern style car, being shown up by a bigger, better, more powerful modern supercar. The driver has switched from one car to the other. The motorcycle concept shows a classic yet nice bike against a powerful looking futuristic motorbike. The rider has switched from one bike to the other.
In both creative routes the ‘better’ product is coloured Hitachi High-Tech green as a subtle hint that this could be an upgrade from a competitor.
The older but good product is coloured generic black so as not to suggest that older Hitachi products are bad. One of the concepts incorporates the product range section to display how we can link the concept to HHA’s product line. This reinforces the analysis aspect and can be used when we roll out the concept on other materials. However for the initial stages of the marketing collateral, Hitachi wanted to use generic photoshoot images which can be seen below.
Print Work
I produced a series of print media ranging from brochure design to small DM pieces and large format print with pull-up banners and exhibition stands. These print pieces focused on the different products Hitachi were selling. The design features all had to link in with the use of specific patterns and textures related to each specific product. You can see evidence of this with how each piece of collateral uses a different style visually. I was working with a range of photoshoot imagery to apply to each asset which presented challenges in terms of the right image selection for the right print product to use, please view the video below previewing each piece of print work.
